2012 Annual General Meeting and Presidential Election |

On 8th December 2012, ACS held its presidential election and annual Christmas Party at Graduate Union, University of Cambridge. During the event, Dr Wang Fengqiu, the outgoing president of the ACS, gave a brief presentation on the works of ACS in 2012. Mr Lian Chaoqun, a third year PhD candidate at Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, was elected unanimously as the new president of ACS. Chang Na and Li Chen, current executives, as well as more than 40 members of the ACS, including Chinese visiting scholars and graduate students at University of Cambridge participated in the election and the party. |

International Multidisciplinary Symposium on Gene, Environment and Culture |
LanZhou, China 19th August-22nd August, an international multidisciplinary symposium on Gene, Environment and Culture,sponsored by the Association of Cambridge Studies, hosted by School of Basic Medicine, Lanzhou University , was held in Lanzhou, Gansu, China.
128 Experts and scholars from 33 universities, colleges and research institute both from home and abroad took part in this symposium. Among them, 31 prestigious experts and scholars, including Prof. Alan Cooper, ARC Federation Fellow, Director of Australian Centre for Ancient DNA,Prof. Jeremy Austin from School of Earth and Environment Sciences, University of Adelaide, Prof. Wei Li, Deputy Director of Center for Developmental Biology, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology Chinese Academy of Sciences,Prof. Lei Yang, Vice-Principal of Hangzhou Normal University, David Lee King and Ms Virginia Lee Conn from American Peace Corps, Prof. Chonggao Li, Academic Director of China Healthy Birth Science Association,Homa Honarmand, from University of Charles Sturt Australia, presented the conference and gave very inspiring lectures on topics relating to culture, management, ethics and law problems in the study of Gene and Environment. |
