LanZhou, China 19th August-22nd August, an international multidisciplinary symposium on Gene, Environment and Culture,sponsored by the Association of Cambridge Studies, hosted by School of Basic Medicine, Lanzhou University , was held in Lanzhou, Gansu, China.
128 Experts and scholars from 33 universities, colleges and research institute both from home and abroad took part in this symposium. Among them, 31 prestigious experts and scholars, including Prof. Alan Cooper, ARC Federation Fellow, Director of Australian Centre for Ancient DNA,Prof. Jeremy Austin from School of Earth and Environment Sciences, University of Adelaide, Prof. Wei Li, Deputy Director of Center for Developmental Biology, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology Chinese Academy of Sciences,Prof. Lei Yang, Vice-Principal of Hangzhou Normal University, David Lee King and Ms Virginia Lee Conn from American Peace Corps, Prof. Chonggao Li, Academic Director of China Healthy Birth Science Association,Homa Honarmand, from University of Charles Sturt Australia, presented the conference and gave very inspiring lectures on topics relating to culture, management, ethics and law problems in the study of Gene and Environment.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Jing Tao, the vice-president of Lanzhou University greeted all the representatives on behalf of the university and expressed his best wish for the success of the conference. Prof. Chonggao Li, Academic Director of China Healthy Birth Science Association, and Prof. Xinyao Liu, Chairman of Virology Study Association of Gansu province expressed their sincere congratulations on behalf of all representatives and the conjunction sponsors.
The majors themes of the conference including: Progress and new methods on the research of Genomics, and Gene and Environment, Gene and Environment Interaction, and topics related to culture, management, ethics and law problems in the study of Gene and Environment are also discussed extensively, which not only introduced the newest trends and developments in the relating field, but also involved the considerations and concerns on the current problems facing by human being. Apart from the symposium, other very innovative activities ,such as the introduction of new technologies, were also arranged during the conference.
The conference received highly positive evaluations from officials and experts presented. It is regarded to be one of those few successful international multidisciplinary conferences ever held in China, which provided every attendant with a very precious platform where academic ideas can be exchanged freely and openly. The conference also helped experts in China improve their understanding of multidiscipline research in the world, and increase their communication with those extinguished experts on the research front line to carry out new conversation and improve the development in relating research areas. |
